xander noticed katze’s shyness at the mention of sexual activity and huffed his dog laugh quietly. he almost felt bad for embarrassing the poor man. more than that, he felt tempted to describe the experience in vivid detail in order to embarrass him even more. but that probably wouldn’t fly.

you never answered that question, the brunet suddenly remembered. the most challenging part of creating a humanlike robot. a lot of people say it’s human emotion. that’s a big part, but it isn’t the hardest. some people can act heartless anyway. no, the hardest part is establishing common sense.

besides, he added, looking away to glare at something other than katze’s annoying face, i don’t think you’ve had much experience with ‘programming an ai.’

i wasn’t being mean before! xander insisted heatedly. i was being perfectly calm, and i was talking to you, and you discouraged me. how am i supposed to be ‘nice’ when you won’t make up your mind about what you want me to do?

for once, this was genuine anxiety, not just an attempt to provoke the psychiatrist. yes, any previous mean or angry words had been xander trying to start a fight.
